The LED i ndicators wil l help yo u monit or the stat us of each port and connected segment. The functions of the LEDs indicators are described as follows.
Front Panel
2-2 The front panel contains 16-port 10/100Mbps RJ-45.
10/100Mbps TP Ports Each port has supported for an Auto-Negotiation function and an AutoMDI/MDIX function that senses the attached device's maximum operating bandwidth and automati cally set s the connected port t o operate at 10/100 Full-/Half-Duplex.
Port Connectors Each TP port uses R J-45 connectors that all ow network TP cabl es to be quickly attached or removed.

Chapter 3 Installation
Basic Installation Step 1. Place FX-16IM on a smooth surface. Step 2. Connect the Power cord to the FX-16IM. Step 3. Connect server, workstation or PC to your FX-16IM using standard
RJ-45 Ethernet cable. Step 4. Connect another workstation or PC to your FX-16IM by following
the same process as described in Step 3. Step 5. If necessary, another hub/switch also can be connected to any port of
FX-16IM using s tan dard RJ -45 Et hernet cable for more flex ible application. Step 6. Ensure that each device is connected properly. Plug power cord to the power outlet and power on the switch.

Chapter 4 Optimizing Configuration
Half- and Full-Duplex This sixteen (16) ports N-Way Switch supports both Half- and Full-Duplex modes for 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX. Half-Duplex: Data can not be transmitted and received at the same time. Full-Duplex: Data can be transmitted and received at the same time. Each port on this sixt een (16) port N-Way Switch can detect and set the line's operating mode by using their Auto-Negotiation function.
Fast Ethernet 100B ASE-TX is called "Fast Ethernet". In Fast Et hernet (100Mbps) data travels ten times faster than in traditional Ethernet (10Mbps). Below is a list of the cable types and connectors supported for 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX networks.

Note: If your 10BASE-T network currently uses Category 5 TP cabling, you can i nstantl y upgrad e the network to a 100BASE-TX network by changin g network devices.

Auto-Negotiation (N-Way) Each TP port has a bui lt-in Auto-Negoti at ion funct ion. This technology automaticall y sets the best possi bl e bandwidth as soon as a connect ion is established with another network device (usually at Power "On" or Reset). Auto-Negotiation functions by detecting the modes and speeds the attached device is capable of. Upon network cable attachment, each TP port will instantly set to operate as follows:
Note: If t he at tached devi ce is s et to a Ful l-Duplex forced m ode, it wi ll n ot connect to an Auto-Negotiation device.
MAC Address Table Every Ethernet data packet includes both source and destination addresses. This six (6)-Bytes ID is called the MAC (Media Access Control) Address. This Switch can automatical ly learn and store up to 4K MAC addresses. However, the MAC Address table is volatile: it disappears when the switch is powered off or reset.
Note: When the network needs reconfiguration, we recommend first turning "Off' the power. Aft er al l nodes have been m oved, reconnect the Switch back "On" to rebuild the internal MAC address table.
