Operating your Breville Moda Cordfree Kettle

Before first use
Remove any promotional material attached to your kettle. It is recommended that before the first use, the kettle is filled to the maximum level, boiled and the water discarded. Your kettle will only operate when positioned on the power base with the ON/OFF switch in the `ON' position. The kettle will automatically switch `OFF' once the water has boiled.
Operation of your kettle
1. To fill the kettle, remove it from the power base and open the lid by pressing the lid release button. Fill with the desired amount of water. Do not operate the kettle without water or fill above the maximum mark on the water window. Too little water will result in the kettle switching off before the water has boiled.
2. Ensure the lid is closed and locked securely into place. Position the kettle firmly onto the power base. Insert the power plug into a 230/240V power outlet and switch `ON'.
3. Press the ON/OFF switch to the `ON' position. The power `ON' light will illuminate.
Never operate the kettle dry. Too little water will result in the kettle switching "OFF" before the water has boiled.Filling above the maximum mark on the exterior of the kettle may result in boiling water splashing from the kettle.

This kettle must only be used with the power base supplied. Use caution when pouring water from your kettle,as boiling water will scald. Do not pour the water too quickly.
4. The kettle will automatically switch `OFF' once the water has boiled.Lift the kettle from the power base and pour the water.Take care to hold the kettle level, especially when filled to the maximum level. To re-boil it may be necessary to wait for a few seconds to allow the control to reset.
The kettle may be stored on its power base when not in use.The power point should be switched off and the appliance plug unplugged from the power when not in use.
Safety boil dry protection
The kettle is fitted with a safety device, which protects against overheating should the appliance be operated with insufficient water. If this occurs the kettle will stop heating.Switch `OFF' at the power point and allow kettle to cool before refilling. When the kettle has cooled down, the safety device can be reset by removing and then replacing the kettle on its base.

THIS APPLIANCE IS DESIGNED FOR THE BOILING OF DRINKING QUALITY WATER ONLY, NEVER USE IT TO HEAT OR BOIL ANY OTHER LIQUIDS OR FOODSTUFFS. THE LID SHOULD ALWAYS BE FIRMLY IN PLACE AND LOCKED CLOSED BEFORE USE.
DO NOT OPERATE THE KETTLE ON AN INCLINED SURFACE.
DO NOT MOVE KETTLE WHEN IT IS SWITCHED ON.

Quiet Boil Technology

Breville Quiet Boil Technology
Your Breville Moda Kettle includes Quiet Boil Technology, a new development that will make boiling water in the kettle a quieter experience. Please carefully read the following instructions.
How it works
The innovative Quiet Boil Technology reduces the size of the water bubbles, minimising the noise level during heating. It is only at the point of boil that a light bubbling noise can be heard which will indicate that the water has boiled.

Maintaining the Quiet Boil Technology
Through regular use over time, scale can build up in the kettle that can affect the performance of the Quiet Boil Technology as well as the life of the kettle.
Lime and Phosphate are common forms of scale that can damage your kettle. Lime scale, a harmless mineral, comes in the appearance of white, coloured or rusty-looking build up on the inner walls of the kettle. Phosphate scale can't be seen, however it can cause the water to appear cloudy when heated.
To prevent scale form damaging your kettle, ensure that the kettle is de-scaled regularly. This is done by emptying the kettle after use and not allowing water to stand in the kettle overnight.
De-scale your kettle when required to ensure maximum performance. Quiet Boil Technology will not be as effective if scale builds up inside the kettle.
We recommend the use of a proprietary de-scaler such as the Breville Kettle Cleaner to remove scale build up and stains.
Do not use vinegar to clean the inside of the kettle as it may affect the performance of the Quiet Boil technology.

DO NOT REMOVE THE DIFFUSER RING LOCATED INSIDE THE KETTLE.

Care and Cleaning

Always switch off at the power outlet and then unplug the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning.
Removable filter
The Breville Moda Kettle features a removable mesh filter to filter out scale deposits for clearer water. To remove the scale deposits, remove the filter by lifting up and out of the kettle. The filter can be cleaned by running under hot water and rubbing with a cleaning cloth or brush. To replace filter, simply slide the filter down into the slot behind the spout of the kettle.

Removal of mineral deposits
Mineral deposits in tap water may cause the kettle interior and water gauge to discolour over time. We recommend the use of a proprietary de-scaler such as the Breville Kettle Cleaner to remove scale build up and stains.
Do not use vinegar to clean the inside of the kettle as it may affect the performance of the Quiet Boil technology.
To clean the exterior
The outside of the kettle may be wiped over with a damp cloth and polished with a soft dry cloth.
Do not use chemicals, steel wool or abrasive cleaners to clean the outside of the kettle.

TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE APPLIANCE DO NOT USE ALKALINE CLEANING AGENTS,WHEN CLEANING. USE A SOFT CLOTH AND A MILD DETERGENT.
NEVER IMMERSE THE KETTLE BASE,SWITCH AREA,POWER BASE OR POWER SUPPLY CORD IN WATER,OR ALLOW MOISTURE TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THESE PARTS.
