April 2022 Families and businesses are saving with the help of ENERGY STAR® Ohio is home to 550 businesses and organizations participating in U.S. EPA's ENERGY STAR program: 61 manufacturers of ENERGY STAR certified products 38 companies supporting independent certification of ENERGY STAR products, homes, and apartments 171 companies building ENERGY STAR certified homes and apartments and many businesses, schools, governments, and faith-based groups using ENERGY STAR to reduce energy waste. ENERGY STAR Activity in Ohio 5.2 million customers served by ENERGY STAR utility partners in 2021 7,608 buildings (more than 595 million square feet) benchmarked using EPA's ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager in 2021 58,800 homes and apartments earned the ENERGY STAR to-date 1,409 buildings earned the ENERGY STAR to-date, including 400 schools, 15 hotels, 37 hospitals, 239 office buildings and 14 industrial plants. ENERGY STAR certified since 2016. State Spotlights GE Lighting, a Savant company, a lighting manufacturer, sold ENERGY STAR certified light bulbs at over 50,000 individual store locations that span the retail spectrum. Columbia Gas of Ohio, a natural gas company, increased construction of ENERGY STAR certified homes by 15%, provided no-cost improvements to 1,800 low-income households and mitigated safety issues including gas leaks, unsafe wiring, venting problems, and cracked heat exchangers. ProVia LLC., a window and door manufacturer, offered ENERGY STAR certified options across 100% of its window and door models, with 96% of windows sales and 88% of door sales qualifying for the label. The City of Columbus relies on EPA's ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager tool as the foundation for their energy benchmarking and transparency policies. SoftLite LLC, a window and door manufacturer, increased ENERGY STAR sales by 31%, while producing more than 218,000 ENERGY STAR certified products, of which 7.4% earned ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2021 recognition. ENERGY STAR is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency, providing simple, credible, and unbiased information that consumers and businesses rely on to make well-informed decisions.
