Congratulations, you have just purchased a product with Intelbras quality and safety. With the option of more wired zones and the addition of up to 6 modules, the XEZ 4108 Smart zone expander is responsible for making the AMT 4010 Smart and AMT 4010 Smart Net panels even more complete. Installation

Attention: it is advisable to power the XEZ 4108 Smart zone expander, after installing your sensors. Installation

  1. Input for power supply (AC).

  9. Input for connecting the sensors of zones 17 and 21 (Z1 / Z5).
  10. Common for connecting sensors in zones 17, 18, 21 and 22 (COM.)
  11. Input for connecting the sensors of zones 18 and 22 (Z2 / Z6).
  12. Input for connecting the sensors of zones 19 and 23 (Z3 / Z7).
  13. Common for connecting sensors in zone 19, 20, 23 and 24 (COM.).

Installation At the bottom center of the board, on the left side of the auxiliary output terminal (- - AUX. ++) there is a two-way jumper (BATTERY), which is used to connect the expander battery. During normal operation, it acts as a charger for the battery. In the absence of mains power, the battery will supply power to the system.] The battery must be housed inside the central box, as shown in the previous image. Connect the black wire to the negative pole and the red wire to the positive battery pole. Attention: it is recommended to use a battery so that, during an eventual power failure, your expander continues to operate. Connecting AC (mains) power Connecting In the lower left corner of the board, there is a terminal with four terminals to connect the control unit to the electrical network (AC) and to the ground (TERRA). On this board, there are also two protection fuses, if you need to replace it, change it to another one of the same value (1.0 A). Operating voltage: 90 - 265 V. It is recommended to use a cable with gauge ≤18 AWG (1 mm). Connect the respective terminal to the ground of your electrical installation, if your installation does not have a ground, install a grounding rod and connect the terminal to it. Attention: it is very important to do the grounding, so that your expander has greater protection against lightning and overload by the mains, if you do not make this connection, the expander will work normally, but will be more unprotected against these overloads. The warranty does not cover possible damage from lightning (even with grounding). Auxiliary (- - AUX. + +): Output = 14.5 / 1 A Installation At the bottom center of the board, there is a terminal with four terminals (- - AUX. + +) To supply the wired sensors. This terminal has two negative outputs (- -) and two positive outputs (+ +). It is recommended to use a cable gauge ≤26 AWG (0.41 mm). Attention: when connecting, observe the polarity (+/-). Address Address In the upper right corner of the board, there is a set of pin bar (JP1), which selects the address according to the number of expanders, and can reach up to 6. AB bus (cascade topology) AB bus Attention: the connection of the XEZ 4108 Smart zone expander, other accessories, zone expanders (XEZ 4008 Smart), receivers (XAR 4000 Smart), PGM expanders (XEP 4004 Smart) and keyboards (XAT 4000 Smart) can be added ). After connecting and addressing the accessories, it is necessary to close the impedance jumper (JP3) on the last device and follow the same cascade topology. Note: for the XEZ 4008 Smart zone expander, only simple zone installation, as specified in the AMT 4010 Smart and AMT 4010 Smart Net control manual. The AB bus is the means of communication between the zone expander and the AMT 4010 Smart and AMT 4010 Smart Net panels. The connection must be made in cascade, connect the terminal A of the expander bus to the terminal A of the panel and the B of the expander to B of the plant, as shown in the previous image. The maximum distance reached by this bus (AB) is 1km in a noiseless scenario and with the following cable specifications: The connections (splices) of the devices to the AB bus of the AMT 4010 Smart / AMT 4010 Smart Net control unit must be made with good quality solder. Zones The expander has 4 zones that can be duplicated, increased to an amount of 8 zones, following the same concept of zone duplication of AMT 4010 Smart and AMT 4010 Smart Net. The connection of the sensors in the areas of the expander must be made with a 4 × 26 AWG cable (0.41 mm) or greater, with a maximum length of 100 meters and resistance up to 40 Ω. These terminals are divided into groups of three terminals, the common terminal (COM) and the side terminals for zones (Z1 to Z8). Connecting the sensors The system supports 8 (0 to 7) different combinations of sensor connections, between single and double zones. These connections follow the same type that are used in the panel of AMT 4010 Smart and AMT 4010 Smart Net panels and the same connections must be followed for all XEZ 4108 Smart expanders. For each of the combinatios, it is necessary to follow a type of connection of the sensors in the expander and a programming in the control panel. Note: it is necessary to use resistors 2k2 and 3k9 according to the chosen connection. Connecting the sensors Single zone without end of line resistor To program this function, type on the control panel keyboard: Enter + Installer password + Enter + 5 4 + 0 + Enter Example of connecting a sensor in zone 17 (Z1) Single zone This connection mode is standard, it is the simplest, but the most vulnerable to sabotage, because if the sensor wire is short-circuited, the control panel will not recognize the problem. Simple zone without end of line resistor and with tamper detection To program this function, type on the control panel keyboard: Enter + Installer password + Enter + 5 4 + 1 + Enter Example of connecting a sensor with a tamper in zone 17 (Z1) Simple zone Example of connecting a sensor without a tamper in zone 17 (Z1) Simple zone This connection mode brings more security than the previous one, because it offers detection of tamper opening, Normally Closed (NC) contact, present in some models of infrared sensors. If an attempt is made to sabotage the sensor housing, this contact will open indicating a violation. If the Faults function (which generate siren trips) is activated, the siren will go off even if the control panel is disabled. You can use this connection with or without a tamper. The 2K2 Ω resistor must be installed next to the sensor and not directly on the terminal in the central zone, as this will be of no use and the security of the system will be compromised. This connection mode applies to all areas of the exchange. You can use this connection with or without a tamper. Dual zone In this connection mode, the system recognizes two zones per input terminal, in this case, there are 8 wired zones in the expander. This configuration is the least safe for dual zones, as it does not recognize wiring short-circuits. The sensor connected to the 2K2 or resistor is zone 17, the sensor connected to the 3K9 Ω resistor is zone 21. Double zone In this connection mode, the system recognizes two zones per input terminal, in this case, there are 8 wired zones in the expander. The sensor connected to the 2K2 or resistor is zone 17, the sensor connected to the 3K9 Ω resistor is zone 21. Dual zone This is the most complete mode. Detects short-circuit in wiring and tamper opening. The 2K2 Ω resistor must be installed next to the sensor and not directly on the terminal of the zone expander, as it will have no use and the security of the system will be compromised. The sensor connected to the 2K2 or resistor is zone 17, the sensor connected to the 3K9 Ω resistor is zone 21. Parallel duplication with wiring short-circuit detection Example of connecting a sensor in zone 17 (Z1) and a sensor in zone 21 (Z5). Parallel duplication In this connection mode, the sensors are connected in parallel at the zone entrance, as if they were two independent inputs and the resistor is connected in series with the sensor. This connection mode detects if the sensor wire has been short-circuited, always connect the resistor next to the sensor and not directly at the terminal of the control panel, as it will not be useful. Operation

After the installation of the expander and sensors, connect it first to the mains and then to the battery, then close the cover. After being switched on, the expander discards the sensor status reading for 20 seconds (stabilization time), that is, it will recognize opening and closing the sensors, only after this stabilization time. Note: in the event of a power outage and the expander will turn off completely, after the power returns, the expander will recognize opening and closing the sensors, only after this stabilization time. Bootloader This feature is an option to update the control panel firmware using a type B micro USB cable (not supplied by Intelbras) connected to the computer. The recording software and the new firmware version can be found on the XEZ 4108 Smart product website. To update the expander, install the firmware recorder software on your computer and follow its tutorial (Firmware Recorder XEZ 4108 Smart) found on our website, on the product page.

Warranty term

It is established that this warranty is granted upon the following conditions: Client’s name: Client’s signature: Invoice number: Date of purchase: Model: Retailer: Serial number:

  1. All the parts, pieces and components of the product are guaranteed against possible manufacturing defects, which may arise, for the term of 1 (one) year - this being 90 (ninety) days of legal warranty and 9 (nine) months contractual warranty –, counting from the date of purchase of the product by the Consumer, as appears in the product purchase bill of sale, which is an integral part of this Term throughout the domestic territory. This contractual warranty includes the free exchange of parts, pieces and components which have a manufacturing defect, including the expenses with labor used in this repair. If there is no manufacturing defect, but defect(s) arising from misuse, the Consumer shall bear these expenses.
  2. The installation of the product shall be executed in accordance with the Product Manual and/or Installation Guide. If your product requires the installation and configuration by a qualified technician, seek a suitable specialized professional, the costs of these services not being included in the product amount.
  3. Having perceived the defect, the Consumer shall immediately contact the nearest Authorized Service which appears in the report offered by the manufacturer – they are the only ones authorized to examine and remedy the defect during the warranty term foreseen herein. If this is not respected, this warranty shall lose its validity, as it shall be characterized as product infringement.
  4. If the Consumer requests home service, it shall contact the nearest Authorized Service to inquire about the technical visit rate. If it is necessary to remove the product, the ensuing expenses, such as those of transportation and insurance of the taking and return of the product, shall be the Consumer’s responsibility.
  5. The warranty shall lose its validity totally in the occurrence of any of the following cases: a) if the defect is not one of manufacture, but is caused by the Consumer or by third parties foreign to the manufacturer; b) if the damage to the product arises from accidents, disasters, agents of nature (lightning, floods, landslides, etc.), humidity, voltage in the electrical network (excess voltage caused by accidents or excessive fluctuations in the network), installation/use in disagreement with the user’s manual or arising from natural wear of the parts, pieces and components; c) if the product has undergone effects of a chemical, electromagnetic, electrical or animal (insects, etc.) nature; d) if the serial number of the product has been falsified or erased; e) if the appliance has been infringed.
  6. This warranty does not cover loss of data; therefore, it is advisable that if it is the case of the product, the Consumer makes a backup regularly of the data which appears in the product.
  7. Intelbras is not responsible for the installation of this product, or for possible attempts at fraud and/or sabotage in its products. Maintain the updates of the software and applications used up-to-date, if it is the case, as well as the network protection required for defense against hackers. The equipment is guaranteed against defects in its usual conditions of use, it being important to bear in mind that, as it is electronic equipment, it Is not free of fraud and scams which may interfere with its correct functioning.
  8. After its useful life, the product must be delivered to an authorized Intelbras service center or directly disposed of in an environmentally appropriate manner to avoid environmental and health impacts. If you prefer, the battery, as well as other unused Intelbras brand electronics, can be disposed of at any Green Eletron collection point (waste management facility to which we are associated).
